Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
Travel and Ground Transport
(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - PA, USA)
With passenger numbers steadily rising at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), so too is the demand for ground transport. Travelers will be pleased to find more than enough taxi cabs, and these are accompanied by a public transit service, shuttle buses and even the occasional limousine or two.
As well as connecting downtown Pittsburgh, airport transport also enables travelers to reach many additional destinations around Pennsylvania and beyond. Some of the most notable include Edgeworth, Frankfort Springs, the Kennedy Township, McKees Rocks, Oakdale, the Robinson Township and the Raccoon Creek State Park.
Buses
Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is served by many charter bus operators, such as Anderson Coach Lines, Budget Charters, Champion Coach, Hill Top Bus Line, Lakefront Lines, Pennsylvania Coach Lines, the Pittsburgh Transportation Group Charter and Starr Transit, amongst many others.
Shuttle Buses
Shuttle buses and shared vans connect the airport with central Pittsburgh, Oakland and other surrounding areas. There are several bus services operating each day at PIT, including the Port Authority Transit's 28X Airport bus service, running at 20 minute intervals throughout the day.
The minibuses seat around 20 people and are also accessible for wheelchair users. Pittsburgh city center has a dedicated busway which ensures that this service is quick and reliable. Some hotels (including Courtyard, Crowne Plaza, Doubletree, Hampton Inn, Hyatt, Marriott and Radisson) now also boast a comfortable and free door-to-door courtesy shuttle services for guests. Further information about the airport's shuttle choices can be found at the onsite Ground Transportation Center.
